Elgie holds her nerve on the 18th, and Kent close the county season with a 5-4 win (5 September 2026)
The county league season finished this week, and it finished the way these things usually do: one match still live on the 18th green, with a first-season player standing over the putt that decided it.
Kent Women's 2nd Team beat Middlesex 5-4 at Chislehurst
Kent hosted Middlesex at Chislehurst on 1 September in the final match of the season, needing a win to finish third. The morning foursomes went badly, Kent trailing 2-1 with the only point coming from Annabel Dalton (Knole Park) and Nicola Elgie (Langley Park), who won 6&5.
The afternoon singles turned it. Ellen Wilson (Cherry Lodge) won 6&4 and Dalton 7&6, and Philippa North (Sundridge Park) added a 4&3. When the last two matches went to Middlesex it came down to Elgie, in her first season, all square playing the 17th. She hit the 17th green and made par to go one up, then found the 18th in regulation and halved the hole to win one up and take the match 5-4.

Senior men lose 8-2 at Hampshire in their last league game
Kent's senior men travelled to Brockenhurst Manor on 3 September for their final league match. The practice day was washed out by heavy rain and high winds, leaving the squad drying kit overnight, but match day was fair and the course played well.
Hampshire needed the win to top the league and got it convincingly, 8-2. Kent's points came from Jim Coventry (Prince's) and Steve Gough (Royal Blackheath), and Ross Capeling (Bearsted) made his county debut. Team Prince's finish second in the English Women's Champion Club
Teagan Ford, Alessandra Mitchell and Sandy Hallet led after the first day at Felixstowe Ferry on 29 and 30 August, posting 151 from their two best scores of three in wet and windy conditions, the best combined daily total of the whole tournament. Senior women lose a tight one at Chigwell, and Holmes is picked for England
Kent's senior women finished their league season at Chigwell on 28 August, level on points with Essex going into the day, and lost 2½-3½ with the result in doubt until the final putt. Danny Holmes (Sundridge Park) has been selected for England in the Senior Men's Home Internationals at Royal St David's in Wales from 15 to 17 September. Holmes won the England Golf Senior Men's Order of Merit in 2024, finished in the top ten at the 2025 English Senior Men's Stroke Play and reached the quarter-finals of the English Senior Men's Amateur in both 2025 and 2026. Summer Mixed Greensomes at Mid Kent
Mid Kent hosted the Kent Golf Summer Mixed Greensomes on 30 August. Fran and Andy Fearn of Canterbury took the Mackenzie Nett Trophy with the best score of the day, 44 points. Julia Martin-Harper and Robert McFadden (The Ridge) were second on 41, on countback from last year's winners Hilary Brown and Richard Elson (Prince's).
In the Jerrom Bowl scratch competition Claire and William Phelps (Littlestone) won with 32 points, from Carolyn and Mike Swan (Hever Castle) on 31 and Finella and Martin Una (Pedham Place) on 29.
